Translating Supplement Doses From Animal Studies
Have you found an interesting animal study the results of which you’d like to incorporate in your daily life? Before you go about starting a new supplement protocol – STOP.
One consideration that’s often left by the way-side is that, to apply to humans, the substance doses used in positive animal studies need to be converted by use of a mathematical equation to account for metabolism.
The formula shown above will help convert doses used in animal studies into human-appropriate quantities.
How To Use The Formula: If it’s a study that used mice, you have to take the dose used (mg / kg / day) and multiply it by 3 (Kw Factor for 0.02kg Mouse). We then divide the result by 37 (Kw Factor for 60kg Adult Human).
