The Reeves Deadlift

After completing an hour-long training session dedicated entirely to the deadlift, I feel particularly inspired (though painfully so) to continue my focus on creating building awareness of the various deadlift variations.

The Reeves deadlift is definitely an old-school movement which has been lost in the annals of time. However, it is one that is highly effective in targeting the hamstrings, spinal erectors, lower and middle back. In addition, it helps to build grip and the forearms, making it a truly Herculean exercise. The technique is simple, but the movement itself is quite a difficult one. With your feet shoulder-width apart, bend at the hips, seize a plate in each hand and perform a standard deadlift.

The Next Level:
To up the intensity, try recruiting the upper back and traps, by performing a shrug at the top of the movement.
