Brazil Nuts For Selenium
Nutrition & Wellbeing Tip: As we know, mercury in any form is extremely toxic. Unfortunately, given the state of our ‘toxic world’, humans can be exposed to mercury through a number of environmental sources including burning coal, light bulbs, batteries, dental fillings, seafood and shellfish. Some of these issues may be more poignant to some readers than others, depending on factors such as the state of your dental health (for example).
So what can we do to prevent mercury poisoning? Well, other than attempting to reduce our exposure to environmental sources of the heavy metal & replacing fillings containing-mercury, try adding 2 – 4 brazil nuts to your daily diet. They are the only truly concentrated, natural source of selenium which can detoxify the body and remove heavy metals including MERCURY! Be careful though, one ounce of brazil nuts contains approximately 550 micrograms of selenium (an amount large enough to be toxic).
Note: The DV for Selenium is around 55mcg for the average male / female aged 19+.
